Hello World!

recovery – Reset Android – Part 9

This tutorial will focus on how you can reset Android on your Sony Xperia ZL. This will get you back up and running at full speed, with the phone reverted into factory default state.  Even if you forgot your locking pattern password, this procedure will unlock Android on the Sony Xperia ZL

You may find a good buyer or even give away your Sony Xperia ZL in the even you have no need for it anymore: It has a quad-core processor and 2gb ram which give a great power when running any Android application. Before you depart from it, then again it is a good idea to perform a hard reset, so all your pe

rsonal data, including messages, contacts and installed apps are gone.

Although the company has disabled the custom recovery mode to get a lighter Android operating system on your Sony Xperia ZL,  we will show a method which can do a hard reset on this phone without even having access into it’s main menu .

Of course will also discuss the process to unlock Android from the phone itself.

PerformING a hard reset on your Sony Xperia ZL

This method is very useful for those who have forgotten the lock pattern on the Sony Xperia ZL device or for those with serious errors in the Android system, which prevent the use of it’s settings menu.

You will need an USB cable for the Sony Xperia ZL and a computer with Windows to fulfill the following steps:

  1. Download and install Sony PC Companion by clicking this link
  2. Open the program and connect your Sony Xperia ZL device
  3. Wait for the proper drivers to be installed (this should proceed automatically)
  4. Go to the support section (Support Zone) and press the Start button
  5. Go to the tab ” Phone Software Update ” and press start again
  6. When a windows pop up, select the REPAIR PHONE option.
  7. We follow the simple instructions depicted in the program and click accept
  8. When the process completes, press “end”: Your Sony Xperia ZL phone will restart

Reset ANDROID ON SONY XPERIA ZL, FROM THE MENU

Another method to reset Android in your Sony Xperia  ZL is through access into the device menu. This will allow you to restore the Sony Xperia ZL phone. Just consider that you may want to backup your files with a backup Google Play application, first.

To make this process we go to Settings> Backup and Restore > Restore Factory Data > Reset phone > Erase everything. We wait for it to carry out the restoration process on the Sony Xperia ZL.

In this tutorial we are going to teach you a special method which will access the Motorola XT303 recovery system using a standard walkman headset with a 3.5mm connector. Yes, as you just read, you need a headset in order to trigger the recovery menu needed to perform a hard reset on your Motorola XT303. By far, this is the weirdest method of making an Android operating system based device to perform a hard reset we have seen so far.

Why you need to hard reset your Motorola XT303 ?

The hard reset procedure will restore factory settings on the Motorola XT303. This will restore your phone as if you just bought it. It will regain its usual responsiveness, and even forget about any locking pattern you or a third party might have programmed in it and eventually forgotten. You will, in short, regain full use of your Motorola XT303.

But then again, all your personal files, including messages, contacts, apps and games are deleted, as a necessary step on the hard reset and factory defaulting process.

Hard reset your Motorola XT303 Android via buttons

This method is recommended for those who have a non functional Android operating system or have forgotten the phone lock pattern.

For this process the following steps follow :

  1. With your phone powered up, insert the headphones plug on the XT303.
  2. Press the power button to turn it off and restart the phone
  3. When the phone is starting to power on press the volume up to enter recovery mode of your XT303
  4. When you see the menu, go down to the Clear Flash option ( with the volume down button ) and confirm the option ( with the volume up button )
  5. We wait a few minutes and your XT303 will restart as if it were the first time with the original factory settings.

Reset Android on your MOTOROLA XT303  THROUGH THE MENU

An alternative method to reset Android on the Motorola XT303 Android, if you have access to it’s Android functionality,  is to select Settings> Backup and Restore > Factory data reset > Reset phone > Erase everythin. Then you just  wait and the process will be successful. With these two methods you can reset Android on the Motorola XT303.

The following tutorial to unlock Android in Skytex Pocket II has been found and proved to work by user Mibzar Urenda on a sister blog of ours, in another language.

In his work he thoroughly researched through trial and error  until he finally got a method that works ok.

First, a word of caution: In the Skytex Pocket II tablet line, the Android hard reset method is achieved by installing a new firmware, which means that the tablet Skytex Pocket II will be literally reverted to”as new” status, with all the original factory settings. Obviously, this will also erase any pattern password that you would have programmed in your Skytex Pocket II, thus effectively “unlocking Android” on your tablet.

You will also need to download a new firmware and other tools , which you can get from Skytex website.

How to reset Android on Skytex Pocket II

I share my experience after many hours and much time invested, as too many forums searching.

I found the answer and did the procedure in four different computers, do not know if it is coincidence but clearly explain how I worked with my Skypad Pocket II:

STEPS FOR POCKET II SKYTEX

  1. First of all the computer on which I worked was one with Windows XP SP3 in English (maybe it is coincidence that it worked only in the English version).
  2. Then decompress the following file, selecting the LiveSuitPack_version_1.09_ English (Inglés tooling) Dec06.exe
  3. I pressed the Volume button (-)
  4. After that, I connected the USB cable to the Skytex Pocket II
  5. After connecting the USB cable, immediately pushed around 5 ~ 10 times the power button, while pressing the Volume (-) until I threw on my computer popped out a windows asking if I wanted to install the driver.
  6. I put continue anyway, waited for it to install the driver for the Skytex Pocket II

Immediately after that, I opened the LiveSuit.exe where I followed these steps:

  1. Wheter or not enter upgrade guide? Select Yes
  2. Select General to enter upgrade mode. Select  Mandatory
  3. Disconnect the device power. Select Next
  4. Wheter to select new image file? Select Yes
  5. They automatically go to the folder where you unzipped the downloaded the .img firmware file.  In my case it is named SP438SPANISHv1.0Firmware.img

After that it began to load the system and everything was perfect to restore the Skytex Pocket II to the original factory settings, all these steps are included in the official guide.  The only thing different was to use the windows in English.

I explained it a little better on how to enter the bootstrap, mlike the steps for the Volume key (- ) and the power, do not expect to found a menu or something in the Skytex Pocket II simply to ask to install the driver on the PC.
